Heavy-truck driving has a large replacement burden, but its training pipeline is much shorter and more responsive than a degree-based profession. If autonomous trucking begins to reduce demand around the turn of the decade or in the early 2030s, fewer trainees, retirement, and turnover can absorb part of the adjustment. Recent trainees could still face deterioration, but the risk of a long delayed supply overhang is lower than in slower credential pipelines.
